Isabella Pallister was the ninth child of William Speed Pallister & Mary Bellwood born September 14th, 1880 at Backworth, Northumberland.
In 1881 the family were living at 1 Whitley Row, Whitley, Northumberland.
By 1891 Isabella was living at home with her parents & brothers & sisters at 26 Melton Terr, New Hartley, Seaton Delaval, Northumberland.
In 1901 Isabella was still living at home at North View, Walbottle with her parents & brothers & sisters.
Isabella married Robert Best in Jan-March 1902 at Castle Ward, Northumberland. Robert was born April 17th, 1873 at Jesmond, Northumberland, the son of Alice & James Best, a coachman.
In 1911 Isabella & Robert were living at Trewick, Bolam Vicarage, Bolam & Belsay, Newcastle-upon-Tyne & Robert was a domestic groom. They had 3 children by this time – James (8), William (5) & Kathleen Sullivan (3), all born at Wylam. Both James & William were registered as being admitted to Belsay County First School in 1911.
Later in 1911 on August 24th, twins were born to Isabella & Robert – Frederick E & John Speed P.
Daughter Kathleen married Alexander Jobson in April-June, 1931 at Castle Ward, Northumberland. The 1939 register shows them living at 25 Salisbury Rd, Wood Green, Middlesex. Alexander was a subpostmaster.
The 1939 register shows Isabella & Robert living at Hall Stables Belsay, Northumberland where Robert was a groom chauffeur.
Son John married Gertrude O Gammon early in 1939 at Edmonton, Middlesex & the 1939 register shows John & Gertrude living at 6A Cambridge Rd, Enfield, Middlesex & John was a machine operator, RSA.
Robert of Belsay Hall died on November 18th, 1942 at Leazes Hospital, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Probate was granted to son John Speed Pallister Best, winding engineman & his effects were £412.14s.3d.
